4-Year-Old Hassan al-Hafi Killed in Israeli Strike on Al-Bureij Refugee Camp

An Israeli strike on the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza on August 24, 2026 killed 4-year-old Hassan al-Hafi, one of two children among at least 7 Palestinians killed across Gaza that day in strikes that also hit Khan Younis and Deir al-Balah. Al Jazeera's Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Deir al-Balah, said 'people on the ground say the ceasefire has effectively represented an extension of the war itself, as attacks continue without respite.' The Palestinian death toll since the October 2025 ceasefire reached 1,288, with 73,422 killed and 174,401 wounded since October 2023.
