General Fusion Provides First Public Company Business Update
On August 18, 2026, General Fusion (Nasdaq: GFUZ) delivered its first business update since becoming the first publicly listed fusion company in July 2026. The company reported roughly $150 million in cash entering public markets, expected to fund its Lawson Machine 26 (LM26) program through several planned technical milestones to the end of 2028. LM26 has demonstrated plasma heating to approximately 0.72 keV (about 8.4 million°C) via compression of a lithium-liner-confined plasma, progress toward the company's near-term 1 keV objective en route to 10 keV and the Lawson criterion for net fusion energy. General Fusion also announced a milestone-based framework agreement with Renexia S.p.A. (a Toto Group company) to explore commercial deployment of its Magnetized Target Fusion technology in Italy, and a diagnostics collaboration with General Atomics Energy Group. CEO Greg Twinney said the Nasdaq listing 'marks an important milestone for General Fusion and the broader fusion industry.'
