Federal Police Enter Oaxaca — Crackdown Ends 150-Day APPO Occupation
Fox finally deploys the Federal Preventive Police (PFP) to Oaxaca after 150+ days of APPO occupation. The operation is conducted with armored vehicles and tear gas. At least 2 deaths are confirmed (the CNDH documents 2 dead, 40 detained, including a U.S. journalist Brad Will, killed by gunfire). Interior Secretary Carlos Abascal initially claims no deaths occurred. The APPO's main barricades are dismantled and the Zócalo is retaken. The late intervention comes just weeks before Fox's term ends and is widely seen as too little, too late.
