IFE Declares Calderón Winner by 0.58%

The IFE (Federal Electoral Institute) declares Felipe Calderón the winner of the 2006 presidential election with 35.89% of votes (approximately 14.9 million) versus AMLO's 35.31% (approximately 14.7 million) — a margin of roughly 243,000 votes out of 41 million cast (0.58%). AMLO refuses to accept the result and demands a full manual recount of all 41 million ballots.
