Khrushchev Agrees to Remove Missiles

Soviet Premier Khrushchev announced over Radio Moscow that the USSR would dismantle and remove Soviet missiles from Cuba in exchange for Kennedy's non-invasion pledge. Cuba's Fidel Castro was furious not to have been consulted and reportedly smashed a mirror. The crisis formally ended; the blockade was lifted November 20.
