Police Clear El Trampolín Beach Camp, Relocate Thousands

Spain's National Police and Civil Guard begin clearing the informal beach camp at El Trampolín, where police estimate 3,500-5,000 people had slept rough since the July 30-31 crossing (roughly 4,000 still present at the time of the operation). Migrants are escorted to two newly opened temporary reception centres, Loma Margarita and El Embolsamiento, with an initial combined capacity of 1,800; by the morning of August 21 more than 1,200 people had been transferred. The Migration Ministry says the facilities 'will be expanded progressively' as further adaptation work completes. Spanish media report roughly 500 people returned to the beach after the initial clearance.
