EU to Boost Morocco Border-Control Funding Under Partnership Deal

A European Commission spokesperson tells reporters the EU will increase migration-management funding to Morocco beyond the €222 million already committed for 2021-2024, foreseeing an additional €190 million through the end of the current budget cycle in 2027. The funding sits inside a long-delayed EU-Morocco Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership the bloc still expects to finalise by year's end, modelled on the €7.4 billion package the Commission struck with Egypt in 2024. Brussels officials deny the Ceuta crisis accelerated the partnership talks themselves, but acknowledge it pushed the bloc to direct more resources toward security, migration and border management with Rabat.
