SSC Detains Three Alleged Anti-Unión Members Linked to Tepito Double Homicide

The Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) detained three suspected members of a criminal cell affiliated with the Anti-Unión faction in the Morelos neighborhood (Cuauhtémoc), tied to the September 16 killing of Odette Rosas, 18, and Abigail Herrera, 19, who were shot dead leaving Independence Day celebrations near Tepito's Mercado 14. Officers seized a long-range rifle, a handgun, and roughly 300 doses of suspected cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamine. SSC secretary Pablo Vásquez said the department would 'continue combating the groups generating violence' ('Seguiremos combatiendo a los grupos generadores de violencia'). The arrests are part of the wider law-enforcement response to the Unión Tepito vs. Anti-Unión turf war, which has killed at least 11 people in the Centro Histórico since early August 2026.
