Heavy Rain Triggers Yellow Alert Across Nine Boroughs, Fells Eight Trees

Mexico City's Secretaría de Gestión Integral de Riesgos y Protección Civil activated a Yellow Alert for the afternoon and night of September 19–20 across Coyoacán, Gustavo A. Madero, Iztacalco, Iztapalapa, Milpa Alta, Tláhuac, Tlalpan, Venustiano Carranza, and Xochimilco, forecasting 15–29 mm of rain with possible hail as Tropical Depression Seventeen-E moved through the Pacific offshore. Fire crews responded to eight fallen trees and a short circuit; no injuries were reported. In Iztapalapa, an 18-meter tree fell on Ignacio Zaragoza Avenue in Santa Martha Acatitla, damaging the canopy of a bus carrying 51 passengers without injuring anyone. The alert was extended into the night of September 20 for Álvaro Obregón, Azcapotzalco, Benito Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, Cuajimalpa, Gustavo A. Madero, Iztacalco, Miguel Hidalgo, and Venustiano Carranza.
