Heavy Rains Flood Eight CDMX Boroughs, Topple Trees and Slow Metro Service

Moderate-to-strong intensity rain hit Benito Juárez, Coyoacán, Iztapalapa, Magdalena Contreras, Milpa Alta, Tláhuac, Tlalpan and Xochimilco, causing widespread street flooding and waterlogging. A 25-meter tree fell at the intersection of Moras and Félix Cuevas, blocking traffic on Eje 7 and damaging phone cabling and signage. Metro lines 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, A and B ran under a 'marcha de seguridad' slow-speed protocol, and Line 2's Zócalo/Tenochtitlan station was temporarily closed. No injuries were reported. The storm is part of a 2026 rainy season on pace to be among the wettest in 40 years, following red-alert flooding in Venustiano Carranza and Iztacalco on September 6.
