Gerardo Hernández, alias 'El Tripa,' an alleged La Anti-Unión Tepito member, and his wife Carla Aguiñaga were shot dead in their truck on Antonio Caso Avenue in the San Rafael neighborhood (Cuauhtémoc) as they left the wake of Luis Rodríguez, 'El Chilaquil' of La Unión Tepito, at a Gayosso funeral home. The double homicide — two days after Chilaquil's killing in Peralvillo — deepened the Centro Histórico turf war between the two factions; local reporting floated a revenge motive tied to Chilaquil's family blaming El Tripa for setting the trap that got him killed.
