Shooting at Plaza Santo Domingo in Centro Histórico Kills Alleged Unión Tepito Figure

| CDMX

Gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire around 5:44 PM at the portals of Plaza de Santo Domingo, at the intersection of Belisario Domínguez and República de Brasil in the Centro Histórico (Cuauhtémoc borough), killing one man and wounding two others (both age 39). The deceased was unofficially identified as Edgar Iván Rivera Segura, 42, alias 'El Valentín,' reportedly a close relative of La Unión Tepito leadership. The SSC-CDMX said the attackers fled northward on a motorcycle and that authorities established a virtual perimeter using surveillance cameras to track them; no motive or arrests were confirmed. The killing follows a mid-July video in which alleged CJNG gunmen threatened La Unión Tepito and the Tláhuac Cartel over extortion in the capital.
