CJNG Video Threatens Unión Tepito and Tláhuac Cartel Over Extortion 'Using Its Name'

| CDMX

A video circulating since the weekend of July 11–12 and widely reported July 14–15 showed alleged Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) gunmen — more than a dozen armed men with rifles and tactical vests — declaring war on La Unión Tepito and the Tláhuac Cartel, accusing them of charging piso (extortion 'protection' fees) to residents and merchants in Mexico City and the State of Mexico while invoking the CJNG's name. The video named alleged operators 'El Yayo,' 'El Masero,' and 'Lic Vallarta,' accusing them of killing and harassing 'innocent people' under the CJNG banner. The threat surfaces amid CJNG's internal reorganization following the February 2026 killing of leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes ('El Mencho'), with leadership now attributed to Juan Carlos Valencia González ('El 03').
