Fiscalía Reports 21% Rise in Extortion Complaints, Names Five Criminal Groups

The Fiscalía General de Justicia de la Ciudad de México (FGJ-CDMX) reported that extortion complaints rose 21% in the first five months of 2026, with 727 investigation files opened versus 599 in the same period of 2025. The report identified La Unión Tepito, Anti Unión, Los Rodolfos, the Tláhuac Cartel, and Los Malcriados 3AD as the groups most linked to the crime, operating across the capital's central, southern, western, eastern, and northern zones. The FGJ said its anti-extortion strategy has produced more than 330 arrests since January 2025.
