Brugada Announces Plan to Decentralize World Cup Celebrations Away from the Ángel

| CDMX

Ahead of the Mexico vs. Ecuador match, Jefa de Gobierno Clara Brugada announced a strategy to 'decentralize' the traditional post-match celebrations at the Ángel de la Independencia, setting up nearly 60 screen/transmission points along Paseo de la Reforma, the Zócalo, Avenida Juárez, the Monumento a la Revolución, the Palacio de los Deportes parking area, and 'Fiestas del Fútbol' across the 16 alcaldías, plus free concerts to keep fans from converging on the Ángel once it reached capacity. The plan took on added urgency after the fatal crowd crush of June 30–July 1, with Brugada reaffirming decentralization and a 25,000-person cap at the Ángel for subsequent matches.
