Bald Range Fire Area Restriction Order Rescinded as Activity Decreases

BC Wildfire Service rescinded its area restriction order for the Bald Range fire west of Summerland, effective Sept 4, after fire behaviour and activity decreased to the point firefighting personnel no longer need to restrict public access to operate safely. The fire remains mapped at over 25,000 hectares. The Service reminded the public that fire-damaged trees may be unstable and hot ash pits can persist long after flames die down, and asked that any smoke from green fuel or outside the fire's perimeter be reported.
