Pear Lake Fire Grows to 166,111 Hectares as Crews Work Big Bar Mountain Flank
BC Wildfire Service pegged the Pear Lake fire at 166,111 hectares as of Aug 30, up 182 hectares from the prior day's 165,929-hectare estimate — the season's second-largest wildfire continues slow, steady growth. No overnight rain fell and only minimal precipitation was recorded through the day, leaving crown fire activity possible wherever rain did not reach the fireline; the blaze remained most active around Big Bar Mountain. Crews spent Aug 29 completing a set of small planned ignitions to bring the fire's edge to workable ground north of Separating Lake, and continued mop-up, patrols and direct attacks along the south containment line near Kelly Lake, Robertson Creek and Allen Creek. No new evacuation orders were reported.
