Bald Range Fire Held at 25,185 Hectares as More Evacuation Orders Rescinded

The Bald Range fire west of Summerland remained held at 25,185 hectares as of Aug 28, per the BC Wildfire Service, with 379 firefighters, 7 helicopters, 43 pieces of heavy equipment and a 5-person structure protection crew assigned. Rain and cooler temperatures moved into the Okanagan Valley over the weekend — the fire's first meaningful precipitation since it broke out Aug 7. The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen rescinded the evacuation order for the area south of Princeton-Summerland Road near Agur Lake and narrowed the Bathville Road order to just two properties (21430 and 21442 Bathville Rd), while the Penticton Indian Band rescinded all remaining evacuation orders and alerts on its affected reserve lands.
