Bald Range Fire Grows to 25,171 Hectares as Peachland Evacuation Alerts Fully Rescinded

The Bald Range fire near Summerland, BC grew slightly to 25,171 hectares as of a 4pm update on Aug 25, with the BC Wildfire Service warning that progressively warmer, drier conditions over the following 24 hours would make smoke and flame more visible on the active west flank near Isintok Lake. All remaining evacuation alerts for properties in and around Peachland were rescinded after officials determined the threat had passed, leaving 6 evacuation orders and 10 evacuation alerts in place — down from 8 orders and 13 alerts a week earlier. An evacuation order remains for Faulder, where dozens of homes were destroyed earlier in the fire's run. 322 firefighters are assigned to the blaze with 24-hour coverage.
