Rinker Lake Complex Command Transfers to Thunder Bay Fire Management HQ as Activity Eases

With wildland fire activity across the Rinker Lake Complex remaining low, the Perin Incident Management Team transferred command of Thunder Bay 36, Dryden 34 and Dryden 35 to the Thunder Bay Fire Management Headquarters on August 25 — a step that reflects reduced fire behaviour even though all three fires remain classified as not under control. As of the transition, Thunder Bay 36 stood at roughly 301,000-307,000 hectares (estimates vary by remapping pass), Dryden 34 at approximately 45,800 hectares and Dryden 35 at approximately 30,158 hectares. The Northwest Fire Region counted 64 active fires overall on August 25 (3 not under control, 4 being held, 12 under control, 45 being observed), and a separate incident management team similarly stood down over the Atikokan-area Fort Frances 13/14/15 cluster on August 26. NOTAMs remain in effect around Fort Frances 14 and Thunder Bay 36.
