BRICS MSME Working Group Meets on Technology Access for Small Businesses
India's Ministry of MSME convened the 2nd BRICS SME Working Group Meeting on May 26, 2026, under the theme 'Enhancing Access to Technology for MSMEs.' The session is the second of three planned working-group meetings in India's 2026 chairmanship cycle — focused respectively on access to finance, technology access, and sustainability — preparing a MSME cooperation framework for endorsement at the September 12-13 New Delhi summit. Representatives from all 10 member states participated. India highlighted its own digital public infrastructure (ONDC, GeM portals, UPI) as scalable models for BRICS economies. The working group is expected to deliver a BRICS MSME Charter by September outlining cooperative fintech frameworks for small-business financing across the bloc. The fintech dimension links to India's chairmanship emphasis on a BRICS Pay rollout as an alternative SME cross-border settlement corridor.
