Police and Military Keep Watch Over Highways as Five Sectors Threaten Pressure Measures

Police and military personnel remained deployed on the La Paz-Oruro, Oruro-Cochabamba and El Alto-Tiquina highways, with a visible presence at the Villa Remedios checkpoint, as five sectors — the COB, truck drivers, heavy-transport operators, fuel-tanker operators (cisterneros) and the Six Federations of the Cochabamba tropics — kept pressure measures against Decree 5716 on the table. The Confederación de Transportistas Pesados declared its own state of emergency, demanding the diesel price return to Bs. 9.80/L, and cisterneros kept fuel-loading operations suspended. The government reiterated that the active state of exception would not be used to permit unlawful road blockades.
