Bolivia Starts the Week Without Blockades on Main Highways Despite Strike Threats

The Administradora Boliviana de Carreteras' road map, updated as of 06:54 Monday, showed no points blocked for social reasons anywhere on the Red Vial Fundamental (national highway network), despite the interdepartmental transport sector's declared 24-hour strike and La Paz's interprovincial federation's threatened departmental blockade, both set for that day. Police and military personnel remained deployed on several main highways, mobilized since early Saturday, to keep traffic moving after the diesel-subsidy elimination. The interdepartmental sector's leadership still had a follow-up assembly scheduled for Tuesday to decide whether to extend pressure measures to 48 or 72 hours if the government did not respond to its demands.
