Families Reject New Funeral Home Investigation Line as 'Incoherent'

| Ayotzinapa

Tlachinollan Human Rights Center published a statement on behalf of the parents of the 43 disappeared students declaring that the new lines of investigation presented by federal authorities — centered on funeral homes and crematoriums in Iguala — were 'incoherent' and failed to address fundamental questions about the case. Families drew explicit parallels to the discredited 'historical truth' narrative promoted under the Peña Nieto government. They reported leaving government briefings with 'more questions than answers, in an atmosphere of distrust,' and said they had not received clear explanations about whose remains were found in the funeral home or how such a key site had not been previously identified. The GIEI return remained the primary unresolved demand. The statement followed the March 23, 2026 arrest of the owners of the 'El Ángel' funeral home and crematorium in Iguala.
