Rocha Moya Rejects Charges, Says He Remains in Culiacán Without Federal Protection

| AMLO (2018–2024)

Sinaloa's governor on leave, Rubén Rocha Moya, published a social media statement saying he has remained at his home in Culiacán since requesting leave on May 1, and reiterated he relinquished constitutional immunity to facilitate the U.S. investigation into drug-trafficking allegations against him and nine other Sinaloa officials. He called the case an 'atrocious media onslaught of slander and accusations without any factual or legal basis' and denied journalist Carlos Loret de Mola's reports that he receives federal protection. President Sheinbaum corroborated the account at her morning press conference, and the federal Security Cabinet formally denied claims that Rocha Moya had been moved to military installations for protective custody.
