Robotics for Good Youth Challenge 2026 Grand Finale: Venezuela Sweeps Food-Security Robotics Competition

The ITU's Robotics for Good Youth Challenge 2026 concluded its Grand Finale at the AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva on July 9-10, with teams representing 50 countries across five continents competing in a farm-simulation arena focused on food security. Robots were tasked with irrigation, harvesting ripe fruit, and other practical agricultural missions. Venezuela won first place in both the Junior and Senior categories, with Vietnam taking two second-place prizes. The competition — the leading UN-affiliated global educational robotics championship for students aged 10 to 18 — is designed to have young people build AI- and robotics-based solutions to real-world challenges; the 2026-2027 edition will shift focus to health emergencies in partnership with the World Health Organization.
