Atomic Bomb Dropped on Hiroshima

The B-29 Enola Gay dropped 'Little Boy,' a uranium gun-type atomic bomb, on Hiroshima, destroying 4.7 square miles of the city and killing an estimated 70,000–80,000 people instantly. Total deaths by year's end reached 90,000–140,000, including radiation sickness victims. It was the first use of a nuclear weapon in warfare.
