Potsdam Conference — Final Allied Summit

| World War II

Truman, Churchill (then Attlee), and Stalin met near Berlin at Potsdam to settle German occupation zones, issue an ultimatum to Japan (the Potsdam Declaration), and plan the post-war order. Truman secretly informed Stalin that the US had 'a new weapon of unusual destructive force' — the atomic bomb, tested the day before. The conference finalized the division of Germany and Europe.
