Battle of Berlin — Final Assault on the German Capital

Soviet Marshal Zhukov's forces launched a massive assault on Berlin with 2.5 million troops and 6,250 tanks. Intense house-to-house fighting raged through the ruined capital for two weeks. An estimated 100,000 German civilians died during the battle, along with 80,000 Soviet soldiers and the entire garrison of Berlin.
