Battle of the Bulge — Germany's Last Major Offensive in West

Germany launched its last major offensive in the West through the Ardennes Forest, achieving complete surprise and driving a 'bulge' 85 km deep into Allied lines. Surrounded at Bastogne, General McAuliffe famously replied 'Nuts!' to German surrender demands. The offensive ultimately failed, exhausting Germany's last armored reserves.
