Battle of Kursk — Largest Tank Battle in History

Germany launched Operation Citadel to eliminate the Kursk salient with 780,000 troops and 2,900 tanks. Soviet intelligence had forewarned of the attack, allowing massive defensive preparations. The battle resulted in Germany's last major offensive on the Eastern Front, after which the strategic initiative permanently shifted to the Soviets.
