Germany Invades Denmark and Norway
Germany launched Operation Weserübung, simultaneously invading Denmark and Norway to secure iron ore routes and strategic Atlantic bases. Denmark capitulated within hours; Norway fought until June 10, aided briefly by British and French forces. The Norwegian campaign ended in German victory but cost the Kriegsmarine significant naval losses.
