CAF Invites Infantino to Cape Verde Strategy Conference Ahead of FIFA Election

| World Cup 2026

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) sent a letter to its 54 member associations inviting their presidents — and FIFA president Gianni Infantino — to a two-day Strategy Conference in Cape Verde on October 7-8. The gathering was proposed by CAF president Patrice Motsepe, a close Infantino ally, whose executive committee had already expressed support for Infantino the previous month. Africa's 54 votes represent a significant bloc of the 211 FIFA member associations that will decide the March 2027 Rabat presidential election, in which Infantino is seeking a fourth term and UEFA says it is still searching for a credible challenger.
