Josh Kushner Breaks Silence: 'We Failed to Appreciate the Political Dynamics' of FIFA Deal

| World Cup 2026

Josh Kushner, founder of Thrive Capital and the anchor investor behind FIFA's abandoned $4.2 billion World Cup stake-sale plan, spoke publicly for the first time since the deal's July collapse. He said the scrapped subsidiary was designed to 'direct more capital and equity equally amongst all 211 member countries,' supporting underdeveloped federations and grassroots development, but acknowledged Thrive 'failed to appreciate the political dynamics of global football, and the lengths some would go to.' The comments came as UEFA sought subpoenas for Thrive's internal documents in US federal courts as part of preparations for a Swiss criminal complaint against FIFA president Gianni Infantino over the deal; UEFA has said neither Kushner nor Thrive is an anticipated defendant.
