Montenegro and North Macedonia Withdraw Support for Infantino
Two more European federations broke with Gianni Infantino. Dejan Savicevic — Montenegro's football association president and a FIFA Council member since 2017 — wrote to FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström rescinding Montenegro's earlier endorsement, saying 'recent developments within FIFA are extremely worrying and have shown a serious lack of communication and transparency,' and that the abandoned stake-sale plan 'exposed concerning vulnerabilities regarding governance, not only at political level but also within the FIFA administration.' The Football Federation of North Macedonia also formally withdrew its backing the same day. Both follow Tuesday's break by FIFA vice-president Sándor Csányi, widening the rift between Infantino and UEFA member associations ahead of the March 2027 presidential vote.
