Up to 2 Million Fans Greet Spain's World Cup Champions in Madrid

| World Cup 2026

An estimated 1.8–2 million supporters lined the streets of Madrid as Spain's World Cup-winning squad paraded from near Moncloa Palace to Cibeles Square, where roughly 120,000 fans gathered for the closing ceremony. King Felipe VI and the royal family received the squad at Zarzuela Palace before players met Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. Players rode an open-top bus reading 'Stars shine together' and wore shirts reading 'Somos Campeones' ('We Are Champions'). Golden Ball winner Rodri displayed both the World Cup trophy and his individual award on stage. The win makes Spain the first nation to hold the men's and women's World Cup titles simultaneously (having won the 2023 Women's World Cup).
