Ukraine Strikes Ufa's Bashneft-UNPZ and Samara's Kuibyshev Oil Refineries in Deep Drone Raids

Ukrainian long-range drones struck the Bashneft-UNPZ oil refinery in Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan (~1,300 km from the Ukrainian border) on September 21, and the Rosneft-operated Kuibyshev oil refinery in Samara Oblast (~910 km from the border) overnight into September 22, Ukraine's General Staff confirmed. Fires were reported at both facilities, which have annual processing capacities of roughly 7.5 million and 7 million metric tons respectively; the Kuibyshev plant had previously been hit in June 2026, temporarily halting oil processing. Ukraine's General Staff said 'products from both refineries are used to supply the Russian military,' framing the strikes as part of its sustained campaign against Russian fuel infrastructure supporting the invasion.
