Russia Strikes Zaporizhstal Steel Plant for 4th Time in a Month
Russian forces struck the Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works with two ballistic missiles on the morning of September 17, injuring one staff member who was pulled from rubble with shrapnel injuries and a concussion. Metinvest, the plant's owner and Ukraine's largest steel producer, said it was the fourth strike on the facility in a little over a month and that Russia has fired 17 ballistic missiles at Zaporizhstal since August. The plant had been shut down following the August 11 strike that killed 6-7 workers. Metinvest COO Oleksandr Myronenko called the repeated strikes 'systemic terror against Ukrainian industry and people,' aimed at preventing repairs and destroying Ukrainian industrial capacity.
