Ukrainian Drones Strike Afipsky and Novoshakhtinsk Refineries, Kill 2 in Krasnodar
Ukrainian long-range drones struck Russia's Afipsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai (about 375 km from the front line) overnight into August 25, sparking a major fire. Regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev said falling drone debris killed 2 people and injured 2 others near the Afipsky railway station, and that at least 10 private homes in the town of Afipsky were damaged, one of them catching fire. Ukrainian forces also struck the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in Rostov Oblast and the Astrakhan gas processing plant the same night; the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez refinery in Perm Krai, hit on August 21, remained offline. Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service said the sustained refinery campaign has contributed to a 19% drop in Russian wheat export prices.
