189 Combat Engagements in 24 Hours; Russia Fires 8,409 Kamikaze Drones
Ukraine's General Staff reported 189 combat engagements over the past 24 hours on April 29 — one of the highest daily totals of 2026. Russian forces deployed 8,409 kamikaze drones, conducted 84 airstrikes dropping 234 guided aerial bombs, and fired 3,019 rounds of artillery at Ukrainian positions and populated areas. Ukrainian air defense intercepted 154 of 171 drones used in overnight attacks (90% interception rate). President Zelensky disclosed that Russia had fired approximately 1,900 attack drones, nearly 1,400 guided aerial bombs, and around 60 missiles at Ukraine over the past week alone. The Ukrainian General Staff reported Russian total personnel losses since February 24, 2022 exceeded 1,328,820, including 1,180 over the previous day. Ukraine's sustained air defense performance and drone counter-campaign have significantly degraded Russian strategic strike capacity.
