Russian Overnight Missile and Drone Barrage on Kyiv Injures Nearly 20, Including Children

Russia launched a coordinated missile and drone assault on Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast overnight into September 17: explosions began around 00:30 local time, ballistic missiles struck around 02:13, and drone activity continued past 07:00. At least 19-20 people were injured across more than 10 locations in the capital, including a 10-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, with 33 sites damaged region-wide. Damage included an education facility in the Holosiivskyi district and homes, agricultural equipment and commercial infrastructure in the Fastivskyi and Brovary districts. Ukraine's Air Force said it destroyed or suppressed 131 Russian aerial targets over Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia and Odesa regions during the attack. In response, Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces struck an oil refinery in Yaroslavl and a military airfield in Russia's Rostov region overnight.
