Russian Drone Hits 'We Are Ukraine' TV Newsroom Live On Air, Injuring Six

As part of the September 8 mass barrage, a Russian Shahed-type attack drone struck the Kyiv building housing the 'We Are Ukraine' and 'We Are Ukraine+' (My-Ukraina) TV channels at midday while the team was broadcasting the national United News telethon live. Six people were injured, three of whom were hospitalized; the strike badly damaged the newsroom and working offices. It was the second strike on the building in weeks — damage from an August 20 attack was still being repaired. President Zelensky condemned the attack and called for an international response, writing on Telegram that 'Shaheds against media is a new page of Russian degradation, and there must certainly be a reaction from Europe and the world.' CPJ and the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) also condemned the strike, with CPJ's Fiona O'Brien noting 'a newsroom is a civilian facility, and journalists are civilians under international law.'
