Russian Drone Incursion Forces Moldova Airspace Closure, Delays Zelensky's Departure for Oslo

A Russian Geran-4 attack drone entered Moldovan airspace on September 8 as President Zelensky's plane was preparing to depart Chisinau for Oslo, where he was due to attend the funeral of Norway's King Harald V. Moldovan air traffic controllers halted all departures, including Zelensky's flight, until the airspace could be declared safe; the drone reportedly crashed roughly 160 km away. It was Moldova's 30th-plus airspace violation of 2026. Zelensky's flight departed later than scheduled and he attended the funeral in Oslo as planned.
