Russia Bombards 9 Ukrainian Cities Overnight, Killing 2 and Wounding 14+; Kyiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia Hit

Russia launched an hours-long aerial barrage overnight into August 27, striking nine Ukrainian cities including Kyiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Poltava, and Kryvyi Rih with a mix of Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, an Oniks anti-ship missile, S8000 Banderol cruise missiles, and Shahed-type strike drones. A 78-year-old woman was killed in Zaporizhzhia Oblast and another person died in Kharkiv Oblast, with at least 14 people wounded nationwide, including 3 children in Zaporizhzhia. Russia's Defense Ministry called it a 'massive' strike on military-related targets — industrial facilities, oil refineries, logistics hubs, and port infrastructure — while Ukrainian officials said civilian areas including apartment blocks and an educational facility in Odesa were also hit. President Zelensky said 'Russia continues to invest in missiles and in expanding its war, and that means more countermeasures are needed.'
