Ukraine Strikes Russia's Ozon Warehouse in Samara Region for First Time, Hits Oil Refinery
Ukrainian drones struck the Ozon logistics complex in Chapaevsk, Samara region — the first Ukrainian strike on a facility of Russia's second-largest online retailer — early on August 22, igniting a fire across much of the 135,000-square-metre complex and forcing Ozon to halt operations there. The same overnight wave hit the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery in Samara region and a port facility in Yeysk, Krasnodar region. Russia's Defence Ministry said it downed 457 Ukrainian drones overnight; the strikes killed at least 6 civilians across Russia, including 2 children in Yeysk and 2 people in Belgorod region. The Ozon strike follows weeks of Ukrainian drone attacks on rival retailer Wildberries, part of what Kyiv has cast as a campaign against the economic infrastructure underpinning Russia's war effort.
