Ukrainian Drone Strike Kills 13 at Nizhnekamsk Oil Refinery in Tatarstan

| Ukraine War

Ukraine's military struck the Gazprom-linked Taneco refinery complex in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan — roughly 800km east of Moscow and one of Russia's largest and most advanced refineries — with a long-range drone barrage on August 10. Tatarstan regional head Rustam Minnikhanov said at least 13 people were killed (including one child; 7 confirmed as Uzbek citizens) and 39 injured, and called the strike "barbaric." Russia's defense ministry claimed it intercepted 450+ Ukrainian drones nationwide overnight and opened a criminal investigation, labeling it a terrorist attack. It was the third Ukrainian strike on the Nizhnekamsk industrial zone in 2026, following hits in June and July.
