Russia Launches 189 Combat Clashes and 86 Airstrikes on Day 1,554; Pokrovsk and Huliaipole Sectors Bloodiest

On May 28, 2026 — Day 1,554 of Russia's full-scale invasion — Ukraine's General Staff reported 189 combat clashes with Russian forces across all front sectors, along with 86 airstrikes and 1 missile strike. The Pokrovsk sector was the most contested with 46 separate attacks, with Russian forces pressing near Vilne, Novyi Donbas, Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Shevchenko, Pokrovsk itself, Bilytske, Hryshyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Filiia, and Novopavlivka.
