Russia Launches 524 Shaheds + 22 Missiles on Ukraine — Dnipro 24-Storey Residential Building Hit; 20 Injured

Overnight May 17–18, 2026, Russia launched 524 Shahed-type attack drones and 22 missiles (including 14 ballistic missiles) in a combined barrage targeting Ukraine. Ukrainian air defenses shot down 503 drones and 4 missiles; 18 missiles and 16 drones broke through and struck 34 locations across multiple oblasts. In Dnipro (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast), drones struck a 24-storey residential building between 02:00–03:00 local time, injuring 18 people including 2 children; 8 required hospitalization. In Odesa, drones hit residential buildings in the Prymorskyi and Kyivskyi districts, damaging an educational lecture hall and a kindergarten, injuring 2: an 11-year-old boy and a 59-year-old man.
