Ukraine Strikes Shadow Fleet Tankers and Tuapse Oil Complex for 4th Time in 16 Days
Ukrainian forces struck Russian oil-loading infrastructure and hit 2–3 'shadow fleet' tankers allegedly transporting Russian crude in violation of Western sanctions. Ukraine also carried out its fourth strike in 16 days on Rosneft's Tuapse refinery and oil export complex on the Black Sea coast. Earlier strikes at Tuapse had sparked fires severe enough to force local evacuations and cause 'black rain' (oily droplets) over the town, with elevated benzene levels recorded. The campaign is part of Ukraine's strategic targeting of Russian energy export infrastructure to cut war funding. Zelenskyy described the effort as 'a new stage in the use of Ukrainian weapons to limit the potential of Russia's war machine.' The shadow fleet tankers targeted were allegedly engaged in sanctions evasion — transporting Russian crude outside the G7 price cap framework.
