Russia Launches 268-Drone + Iskander-M Mega-Barrage; 4 Killed in Kherson and Chornomorsk
Russia launched a massive overnight attack beginning the night of May 2–3: one Iskander-M ballistic missile fired from Kursk Oblast plus 268 strike drones (Shahed variants, Gerbera, Italmas types) launched from multiple directions — Kursk, Shatalovo, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, occupied Crimea, and occupied Donetsk. A second daytime wave followed on May 3, with 227 additional drones launched, of which 200 were shot down by Ukrainian air defenses. The attack targeted multiple cities: in Kherson, a drone struck a minibus, killing 2 and injuring 7; in Chornomorsk (Odesa suburb), a drone attack killed 2 (a mother born 1988 and a man born 1987) and injured 5, destroying 35 residential houses (1 fully) and a port infrastructure target; strikes also hit Dnipro, Sumy, Kharkiv, and an energy facility in Mykolaiv Oblast. Total confirmed casualties: at least 4 killed and 12+ injured. Ukrainian air defenses engaged throughout the night and day, intercepting the majority of incoming drones.
